Parent Newsletter October 2011

Hello Parents,

We are implementing a new blog newsletter that will be issued monthly to keep parents updated on what is going on at the daycare. We will also post information about upcoming events and any reminders you need to know about. We hope you enjoy!!

September was such a busy month with getting our daycare off the ground and getting so busy so quickly!! We had a lot of fun getting to know each other, the children and the parents; and had a great time playing and learning with the children. It is hard to believe that it's almost the end of October already!!! We had the best time at Valley View Farms, what a great first field trip!! Thanks to all the parents who came :)

It is almost time for Halloween, and we wanted to address how we will be celebrating at Tiny Hoppers. Please feel free to dress your child up in their favorite costume on Monday Oct 31st. We will take the children through our mini mall to trick or treat, we will ensure they are peanut free candies by providing the locations with candy we have purchased and inspected. If you prefer to have your child not participate in the trick or treating please email us at tinyhoppers.bh@hotmail.ca and we will accommodate!! If you would like to send a homemade (peanut free) treat to school for the children that would be lovely!! We want to ensure Halloween is a super fun day for the children. The teachers will be making cupcakes with the children and making orange and black icing as a treat!! The teachers are encouraged to dress up as well :)
We will be posting pictures of costumes and trick or treating and the other fun activities from the day!!

As we're sure you have noticed it is starting to become a bit chilly outside, fall is here!! With that said we would greatly appreciate if you could send your child with warm outside clothing, this includes hats, mitts, warm boots, sweaters and warm coats etc. We do go outside for 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening so please ensure your child is properly dressed for the colder weather.

We would also appreciate if you could ensure your child's spare clothes bin in their cubby is full (either for potty training reasons, or for as needed basis). If your child is potty training please send 4 shirts, 4 pants, 4 underwear and 4 socks, this way we have plenty of extra clothing to work with.
For potty trained children just 1 extra shirt, pants, underwear and socks just in case would be great!

At this time we would like to remind you that we do have an indoor/outdoor shoe policy for the staff and children. When the children are indoors they must be wearing clean shoes that have not been worn outdoors. Upon drop off in the morning we would appreciate if you could ensure they change into their indoor shoes, and upon pickup we would appreciate if you could ensure they wear their outdoor shoes home.  For outdoors we encourage you to send weather appropriate shoes, so for fall we recommend warm boots or rubber boots for the rain, and for winter we recommend warm waterproof winter boots.

We have had many questions asking if we are open on Remembrance Day; so I thought we would address it in the newsletter, we are open on Remembrance Day. The holidays in which the daycare is closed are listed in the parent handbook. Feel free to take a look and mark the dates on your calendar!

As you may have noticed we have posted some information about a photo day taking place at the daycare on November 3rd. These photos can be just of your child, or you can schedule a family photo. If you have questions regarding the photos please feel free to ask Miss Kala or Mrs Maria. We will be posting more information about the photos on the parent board (above the sign in sheets at the front door) so keep an eye out for further information.

If you have any comments, compliments, issues or suggestions please feel free to email us at tinyhoppers.bh@hotmail.ca. We would like to hear anything and everything, that is how we will grow and get better!! If you would like to recognize a staff member please do so, we love to hear those great comments!! We also like to hear suggestions and issues, that way we can fix them and make things better!! So don't hesitate to communicate with us, help us make this the best daycare it can be :)

We hope you enjoyed the newsletter and the friendly reminders :)

Have a great day!!!

Team Hoppers :)
